About Sound Club
Albums have connected artists to listeners for generations, and we're losing sight of them.
Curated playlists. Algorithmic song selection. Instant access. More. Faster. The digital age has ushered in new ways of listening that box in artists and listeners alike.
Sound Club's mission is to create a space for music lovers to celebrate the art of the album. We're here for mindful listening, discussion and debate. We're here to find community through sound. We do it through a simple idea: book clubs for music.
How it works
- Clubs form around a genre, an era, a city or a vibe. Join one, or start your own.
- One album at a time. Each club picks a record to hear in full, with a listening guide on the artist, the album and what to listen for.
- Talk it through. Rate the album and dig into it in the club's discussions.
- Sessions bring people together: live listening rooms in the app, and listening nights in person.
Sound Club is on the web, iPhone and Android.
About me
My name is Michael, and this started as my mid-life crisis.
After 20 years in marketing, I found myself at home with a toddler. (Our first.) That meant fewer chances to be with friends doing the things I used to love, which mainly meant fewer shows and less listening. (Unless you count Montessori playlists.)
I kept thinking about the record nights I used to host in NYC, post-show debates about desert island records, and pandemic Zoom listening sessions with buddies. I didn't have a place to connect with other people to talk music.
So I built the place I wished existed. Since November 2025 it's grown into clubs and listening sessions run by members, and it keeps getting better because of what you tell me. If you have any thoughts, ideas, feedback or requests, please hit me up.
Thanks for being here,Michael (a.k.a. Jangles)michael@soundclub.app
