What was your first encounter with this record, and did it hit you right away or take time to click?

I stumped into In the Aeroplane Over the Sea somewhere around 10 years ago. I really can't remember how, but I do remember being absolutely blown away by it. Even now the track conveys such power. The overdriven bass. The simple strumming. The whimpering horn. The juxtaposition of the the sweetness in the early lyrics to the eerie, threatening final verse. All of it hit like a ton of bricks the first time it came on.
