What impresses me most is that this wasn’t JUST their first album made entirely of original songs. It may also be one of the first true “All Killer, No Filler” — or “No Skip” — albums. And those two things happening at the SAME TIME? What the hell? 😂 Usually, you’d expect a band’s first all-original album to have a few growing pains. A couple songs where they’re still figuring out who they are as writers. Maybe something that sounds like it was included because they needed another track. I don’t really hear that on *A Hard Day’s Night*. The confidence is all over it. The hooks are there. The harmonies are there. The melodies are there. Even the songs that aren’t the huge, obvious classics still sound like they belong. They weren’t just proving that they could write their own material. They were proving they could fill an entire album with it — and make the whole damn thing work. For a band still this early in its career, that’s kind of ridiculous.
