How does the album hold together when it jumps from Mr. Spaceman to something as heavy as I Come and Stand at Every Door?

Mr. Spaceman feels like the odd song out on the album for sure, but it was necessary with the theme. By the time I get to I Come and Stand at Every Door, I’ve forgotten about poor Mr. Spaceman though.
