This guy's tone is so nasty. If I played this album at half speed it might sound like John Scofield.
Hometown rips. Super weird, though. I can't shake the walk-down progression they use at the end of the sections (see 3:12). It sounds too damn close to this: https://youtu.be/-IiWtFY-vGE?si=8jXL9S_-SeNOXubg&t=33
@Jangles Yeah, this was where I realized it’s definitely pure and prime musicianship. I could stop wondering if I liked it and just enjoy it. Second time through it hit me a lot harder.
@MC_Benski I felt the same way. It kind of revealed the intention of “the album” that was kind of just below the surface to that point. I love where he places these in the sequence of it all.
Wow. The phrasing in Above the Clouds to close out the album. Immediately replayed this one. It's so vocal. So articulate. Love the thought to end the album with something so personal.
@Jangles Dude, I had you in mind with this one. I stumbled onto it and was like this ain’t my normal jam but was so thoughtful, intentional and well executed I replayed it twice. Figured I would find more in it, and I know there is still more there I haven’t pieced together yet.
@SeanInConcert might dig this one for the genre bending and pure musicianship throughout.
