Before you listen: Have you heard this artist before? Have you heard this album before? What do you expect this album to sound like? What vibe are you expecting based on the title or cover?

After listening: What song stood out the most? Did the album meet your expectations? If you were recommending a similar artist to someone who liked this album, who would it be?

Coming into this entirely blind. Excited to see if I can judge a book by it's cover! Have you heard this artist before? Nope. Entirely new to me. Have you heard this album before? Nope. What do you expect this album to sound like? What vibe are you expecting based on the title or cover? I'm guessing it will be a bit moody. There might be some resentment. Also, judging by the all lowercase title, a bit dismissive. Pressing play!

@harlanworld have you given this one a spin?

Loved this. It's one of those albums that sweeps you up into it's world you're totally consumed by it. My only knock is that it ended way too soon. What song stood out the most? no signal pulled me in the most. I honestly think it might purely be because of the track length -- it turned into a meditation of a listen. Other contenders: all over u because the waltz was surprisingly cool, intention 4 u as a more traditional groove, passion 4 u for the crazy vocal production. Did the album meet your expectations? I came in blind so I didn't really have expectations. Came away super impressed. I loved the vibe. If you were recommending a similar artist to someone who liked this album, who would it be? This sort of music is a bit out of my norm. It gave shades of early Grimes, but I'd probably place this next to James Blake's Overgrown for similar vibes.

I liked this project, thanks for sharing it. To me, it's giving the slower, more ethereal songs from artists like Jhene Aiko, Majid Jordan, Sade even? James Blake makes sense @Jangles but this feels less sparse to me. Beautiful voice though, I like how airy it feels. I did want a few of the tracks to be grounded in something more structured for the beat, because it made me keep guessing where the song was going for so long. Maybe a switch-up of tempo in one or two to round it out a little, but overall really cool and consistent sound. Intention 4 u was my favorite.

lol @harlanworld . Pretty good example of where our tastes tend to diverge. I loved how unstructured the album was. The abstract feel keep me really engaged. I definitely appreciated Intention 4 u as a track to ground things, though.

My favorite song on the album is all over u. I’m a sucker for an instrumental and I love the chords on that song. The first song I heard from her was intention 4 u and after that I decided to press play on her EP. I was pleasantly surprised and I can say she is now one of my new favorites. I love her ghostly vocals and I agree with all of these similar artists. I would also add Charlotte Daye Wilson and Alex Isley. I think she’s an artist that should be watched out for and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store as she grows as an artist.
