Anticipation was written in minutes as a spontaneous response to a feeling — does that origin story change how you hear the song?

I think so. Just about everyone has felt that feeling - waiting for a date to pick you up (or you pick up a date.) The context lends a ton to the emotion of the song. Without that, I don't know if I'd feel that the song is anything special. But standing in those shoes it gives a perspective that makes the lyrics a bit more impactful.
