Does Wareham's fragile, sometimes-strained voice draw you into these songs or push you away from them?

It draws me in. His voice sounds vulnerable and slightly overwhelmed, as if the songs are asking more of him than he can comfortably give. That tension makes them feel intimate and human. A more polished singer might have made the music prettier, but probably less affecting.
