Does Uptown's vision of a mixed, free-for-all party scene feel utopian, dated, or still ahead of us?

It feels dated to more because of the song itself. It sounds like songs I used to see on Soul Train on Saturday afternoon. But remembering the time, I feel like we made some headway in moving towards Uptown. I do think we've taken a couple of steps back from that in the last couple of years. In that context, I hope Uptown in somewhere in front of us.
