one thing i absolutely love from this album is the cardigan music video. not just for the cinematography, but for its storytelling and depth. i’ve always interpreted it as Swift’s journey though the music industry. in the beginning, we see her step into the piano and gets transported to a magical garden. this signifies the beginning of her time in the music industry. how everything seemed cool and exciting at first. then all of sudden when she climbs back in, she transported to the middle of the ocean where she finds the piano and clings on to it. this represents her downfall. her cancellation and the public backlash she received in 2016 i absolutely loveee this part bc ive always interpreted it as when she thought she had no one and nothing left, she knew she always had her music to hold onto.
