Does hearing the quiet version of Big Day Coming first change how the loud version hits you at the end of the record?

YLT’s known for covering artists on their albums, so for me this was a way for them to have fun with that and “cover” themeselves, and both versions were great in different ways

That's such a cool idea. If I were to make a massive assumption about the artists' intent - which I do love to do - I felt that the reprise of the song was a statement of change over the course of the album. (Both in the journey of the listener, as well as them as artists in the recording process.)
