Do the whispered vocals on songs like Nowhere Near draw you in closer or keep you at a distance?

Whenever Ira Kaplan or Georgia Hurley sing in a hushed or quieter voice I’m always drawn in. I find the lyrics in their quieter songs to be more interesting and profound than their rockers (not to say the rocker’s lyrics are throwaway in any way).
