All I Need and House Of Cards are unusually direct love songs for this band, so do they feel sincere or unsettled to you?

All I Need feels absolutely unsettled. It may be a love song by definition, but it's a portrait of defeated longing. The building of sound throughout gives me a feeling of overwhelm on the part of the writer.

House Of Cards is the only song on the album that drags for me. I don't really feel it as a love song; it seems to be about having an affair. Anyone else get that read?

Agree, and will pose the idea that Radiohead approach subject matter in unconventional ways, and think the songs here approach “love” in different ways than most artists, including darker themes of love such as affairs (House of Cards) or unhealthy, abusive, obsessive relationships (All I Need), which for me is part of what makes these songs work here and distinctly Radiohead

@UrbanHymns Sort of a left turn, but another incredible album that explores the different dimensions of love is Olivia Dean's The Art of Loving. Have you had a chance to check it out?

@Jangles yes I have. “Nice to Each Other” was part of a curated playlist by Apple Music that my kids enjoyed and that song in particular stood out to me and my kids, which began the deep dive to finding her album. Really enjoyed it

Radiohead approach subject matters in such unique, distinctive ways, and those two songs to me perfectly represent that, showing their takes on other facets of obsession and darker themes in love and relationships oftentimes overlooked in songs
