What does Casablancas's filtered, buried vocal do to your experience of songs like Someday or Last Nite?

I don't know if I'd say that the vocals are buried. They're definitely the melodic heart of the whole album. As far as the sonic aesthetic, I love it. His slightly lazy delivery and old school phrasing seems really well suited for that lo-fi vocal sound.
