Sometimes you just have to go with an old standby. It's Friday and Mac Demarco's weary, wobbly, slightly-sarcastic sense of sunshine and optimism has always felt on point after a long week. In particular, I love his bedroom recording aesthetic - what sits behind it are some serious songwriting chops and meticulous craft. So many highlights in this one!

This didnt do much for me... If I had to walk away from this while it was playing and came back ten minutes later, i wouldve thought it was the same song. I like the emotion in his voice and I like the musical soundscape in the back, but the lack of energy...very much a reason why I am not a Mazzy Star / Hope Sandoval fan.

@SeanInConcert I can see that. The two standouts, to me, are Passing Out Pieces and Chamber of Reflection. Both have a much more unique synth-driven sound that separates them from the rest of the jangley hipster sound.

This in its mellow vibe draws a very interesting parallel to my current pick its mellow psychedelic pop sound, im gonna give this album a deeper listen but I just found it interesting

@William I'm falling behind on listens! Will have to check in on your pick when I have some time to listen this week.

First time I listened I was not a fan. Second time it was much better. The sour sound of the album turned me off at first but I am beginning to like it. This makes more sense as an album than as individual tracks - and is a similar experience to when I first listened to Geese. Still not completely sold but will give it at least one more listen. This is a great pick because I haven’t heard anything that sounds like it before.

@Cousin-Cletus I agree that Mac Demarco isn't really a hit maker. His albums have a vibe to them make them a fun spin front to back, but leaves you with little to take away. It's the kind of album that I love listening to while I'm doing some work.
