Welcome, middle aged music heads. I wanted to create a space for us to introduce ourselves now that this is up and running. Maybe we can start by sharing where we're from, our favorite band/artist the year we graduated, and our favorite artist today? I'll go first... I'm Jangles, host of this club. I grew up in the corn fields of eastern Pennsylvania. I was probably most influenced by Metallica in high school, but the Deftones' White Pony would have been my most played album my senior year. Today, I'm a huge Phish head but love all things music. Looking forward to talking music with you all!
@Jangles thank you for starting this and what I really like about this club is your love for music as well as the ability for us to all introduce ourselves. I went to some of the other clubs on this app or website and no one was really having a chance to voice who they are, which I think is the most important thing before having some really thoughtful conversations about music that we love.
Hi there! Love the idea of this site so gonna give it a go across a couple clubs. I grew up in Northeast WI and have lived in Chicago since graduating college in 2015. Metallica was by far my favorite band in high school and remains a favorite to this day. I was heavily influenced by the Guitar Hero era of music when it came to pre-Spotify exposure favorite bands besides Metallica would be blink-182, Vampire Weekend, Alice In Chains, and The 1975.
@andrewmackens welcome! Pretty cool that Metallica was the high school mainstay a decade after my experience. I’m sure it still applied a decade before, as well. Feedback is appreciated for both the club and the site!
So I guess I am a Xennial, still have a working NES, a CD collection, and remember rooting for the Bills to win the Super Bowl (4 years in a row). Went from wall phones with a chord that clotheslined you as a kid, to computer phones in our pockets that run our lives. We are a unique blend of old and new, and understand both. So let’s talk about the music that guided us and influenced us. Thanks Jangles for getting this started.
I forgot this part……. Born in Cleveland, grew up in rural western Pennsylvania. Pearl Jam was my favorite band in high school. Thanks to some great friends in college and back home my appreciation for music has grown. Current favorite bands now: Pink Floyd still holds the crown. I love me some Phish, Hendrix, Dead, Primus
I’m Dan from Minnesota graduated in ‘02. Was, and still am, big fan of the Beatles, kinks, Elliott smith etc.
@The_Interpreter I used to live in Minneapolis for a little bit. I liked it over there at that time and it was right off Nicolette Mall where I lived. I remember Caribou coffee was a place. I always went to in the morning.. I went to a couple of record stores out there, but it was a while ago and it was at a time where I wasn’t really collecting or buying
Hi All 👋 FluidDruid here. Originally from NJ but living in Nashville area now. Big alternative and general 90’s - 2000’s rock fan. Although I’m not the biggest Smashing Pumpkins fan, I consider Siamese Dream a perfect album. My appreciation for it has only grown over the years. So love to see it featured here. My favorite artist from the year I graduated was probably Radiohead. OK Computer hit hard. Favorite band from today is harder to say … I’ll go with Sharp Pins since I’ve been listening to them this past week.
@Fluid_Druid thanks for joining! Love Nashville - was out theee three years ago for some shows. Also excited to see a Radiohead fan. OK Computer somehow got hammered in the ratings 😂
Hi! I'm James, from Portland OR. I run a meetup group where we get together once a month, share and talk about music. Kind of like a bookclub, but for music. Happy to have found Soundclub! I'm checking out some of the clubs here and looks like a great collection of stuff to listen to.
Hi all, I’m SB and I own a record store here in Temecula, California called Discovery Records. I love all types of music but really am into 80s jazz fusion, as well as hip hop funk and old school soul. Look forward to meeting you all/future conversations. If any of you are interested in spinning records at my store, I have a YouTube account where we highlight different genres so just reach out to me if you would like to if you’re in the area.
Hey y’all! I’m BigSean34, and I am a music nerd! Can’t wait to geek out with everyone and dive deep into some great records.
Yoooooooooo!! I’m so freaking excited to be a part of this! I am a music coach developing emerging artists and performers. Been coaching for 20 years in different capacities. My favorite concert i ever saw was Ray Charles with the Nashville Symphony. My top bucket list concert is Björk!!

Hi--I'm nightbird2k26, a 67 yo guy, NJ born, NY raised, now living in the midwest. I enjoy many types of music, from arena rock to new wave to punk and post-punk to Celtic to blackgrass and more. i'm a strong proponent of good music as good music, and the one thing I really dislike is people shitting on other people because of their taste. You like what you like. I hope we can have some great discussions about lots of different kinds of music!
Hello I’m Mike from Miami, FL, been obsessed with music my whole life. I love everything from Lana Del Rey to Turnstile to Bon Dylan to you name it, I probably like it. Just not really into most country music. My favorite artists are Lana Del Rey, Radiohead, NIN, Bjork, Sophie, and Arca, just to name a few.
Hello all. Grew up in Ohio, living in Chicagoland. Favorite album senior year in high school was Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon. Current favorites are a live album of Dark Side of the Moon from ‘73, Miles Davis Kind of Blue, and Gun Shy by the Screaming Blue Messiahs. I like discovering new music or new old music. Am looking forward to exploring with this group.
Hi all! I'm new to the app and this seemed like the place to be! I'm from San Antonio, TX. When I graduated high school I was all about Incubus and RHCP. My all-time faves are Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind, and Fire.
Seems like we have a fair number of new folks joining the club! If you haven't introduced yourself, feel free to say hi and drop your favorite album (old or new) that you've listened to this year.
