Marquee Moon by Television · The Pocket

It earns the length, definitely a highlight of the album

Great track that captures spirit of a live jam in a studio setting. I absolutely love the build to the peak and the release after. A highlight of the record for sure.

Seeing as it was their first proper release, I think it was a bold statement to the state of music that was coming out at that time. I never felt Television was a “punk” band as we think of it, but they fit into that New York scene perfectly because of their artistic and literary style to their music. The song is a journey and sometimes it takes 10 minutes.

It earns every second. Marquee Moon plays like the missing link between punk & prog and the guitar solo actually goes somewhere. It has a beginning, middle & end.

@ExileOnEStreet I like that thought of it being some of the connective tissue between those genres. We had a listening session the other day and there was a debate as to whether Marquee Moon is actually punk, though...
