Such a brutal album. Unapologetically sorrowful, depressed, lonely. I have to be in the right mood, but when I'm ready for King Krule I love that he absolutely swallows you whole. The songwriting is super interesting. The production is so atmospheric. His soulful voice, steeped in anger and despair, delivers some of the more interesting melodies you'll hear. It all paints such an evocative, emotional portrait of the world through Archie's eyes and mind. An artist with a unique vision.
Dude so funny - I have no idea how but I'd never heard of him until Sunday, had a buddy in town and we were jamming his stuff at my place because he knows I love Khruangbin, Arc de Soleil etc. Probably have heard his stuff on spotify daylist playing in the background but never bothered to look it up. He's dope!
Kind of a Clash vibe vocally. Out Getting Ribs (amazing track) and the newer stuff is what we were mostly jamming but I'm going to give this one a few spins as he's new to me
Not to deviate from this particular album but check out this cover of Out Getting Ribs (also instrumental) - it's so nice https://open.spotify.com/track/29RVgDaIL6YbihkzJxxi8B?si=18a37386bd4e4206
If you haven't already, check out the work he's done under his own name Archy Marshall. Leans way more towards trip-hop. Super vibey. https://open.spotify.com/album/74YcGj6qapwglRZqlY6bzL?si=IyWxT4g2Tc-Pnwr-Jj1BhQ
