Euthanasia Waltz makes odd meter feel almost natural — at what point, if ever, did the time signature stop feeling like a puzzle?

I loved the complexity of this piece

Right around the 2:10 minute mark the song finally exhales. I spent the entire song up to that point counting out to try and find the time signature. It has that swing of a waltz throughout, but the composition keep running circles around it. Super interesting music.
