Wow. I don't know what I was expecting. I guess I've only ever heard Flea in RHCP. A Plea is entirely unexpected...and f'n amazing!

Have to call it for today. Only a few tracks in. This is so awesome, though. I need to do some research on the other artists. Legit jazz chops across the board.

Was just looking up the musicians on the album. Flea does all of the trumpet work?!

This one blew me away. It feels out of left field given Flea's career with RHCP. It has intent. It feels slightly experimental. It ranges from unique compositions to stripped down singer songwriter. The covers feel adopted as his own. (I loved the Frank Ocean cover.) It's absolutely an album I'll come back to again. Awesome pick!

So I had a few listens finally... my first thought thru a few somgs was "Flea Scott-Heron" a homage to the poet/activist Gil Scott-Heron. I was hoping for a little less Flea weirdness that I am fine with in RHCP. but its there..no biggie. But this did show me his musical range that I knew he had but never had a real good outlet for it. Im surprised it took this long for a debut solo album. This is NOT a focus on his bass playing, but more on his composition, which I truly appreciate.
