Agree x 2. The way the track drags at the end feels very worn and tired. Like things winding down. It's a really beautiful opener.
Here’s where the album really takes off for me (and I’m sure like others). The instrumental towards the back half of the title track, with it’s buildup to the finale just absolutely stunning.
I really like the production aesthetic. The spacing of the tracks. The wetness to the sound. It's gorgeous.
The switchup halfway through is a bit odd. Why not a separate song? It's so powerful, too. The lap harp (wild guess) is awesome!
The way this song is just wonderfully constructed, taking its time to fully unfold is what makes it interesting to me; that final guitar part is my favorite part in this whole song. Some of my favorite songwriting on this album is here as well, plus any song that references an Eddie Murphy classic will have my attention from start to finish 🙂
This is the song that completely won me over with these guys; from beginning to end this song had me and I immediately went to my record store to buy the rest of their albums 🙃 For me this song feels like the little brother to Sonic Youth’s “The Diamond Sea”
Hey y'all, thanks for chiming in, glad to be back and spinning tunes! Glad you both liked the record, it's one of my essentials from a band with mostly incredible work. If you didn't get a notification, I just started an album poll for the next record while I build up my next few months.
