This is a great little encapsulation of a moment in time with The Roots at a particular plateau and Jay Z in a peak moment. I remember hearing he had an unplugged coming out and wondering how and then learning the roots would be involved. Amazing.

@aaroncurtis 1000% agree. great time capsule of the unplugged era, and the most relevant roots era. it’s always nice to have a proper recording of a live moment too to get those little snippets of Jay talking. The irony of him seeking out dame dash in the audience, the eventual fallout with jaguar wright, even a young Pharrell before his peak. Classic.

Only on the second track and this album has me going. The transitions are so tight. I love the production choice to include ambient mics to capture that room. It feels like you’re right there with them.
