Holiday season, weather getting colder*, slowing down to bring the year to a close. Time to put this on front to back and zone out with an all-time Jazz classic. *Unless you live in Hawaii

It gets cold here too, relatively speaking.

Just read up a bit on this one. I remember us discussing it in Jazz class in college but that was way too long ago. The choice to not included any chordal instruments in his recordings is pretty awesome. It sounds like he wanted to focus on melody to the extent of removing simple harmony. Such an interesting approach. Pressing play!

Really enjoyed this one. The concept of removing harmony in order to focus on melody super cool and made for an interesting listen. Coleman's tone is pretty unique. It sounded a bit dirty at times, giving the free form segments a bit of edge. I love how loose the whole thing feels with so much time devoted to improvisation. To me, Charlie Haden was the MVP. The bass was so dynamic and brought a huge diversity in vibes to the whole thing. Looking forward to some more jazz selects in NO SKIPS!
