Given its introspective lyricism, how effectively does Reach Out Richard ground the album amidst its otherwise glossy themes?

I kind of wish this one was placed a little earlier in the album. By track 10 I had already moved past the idea of the lyrics having a ton of depth. I didn't really give this song much thought until @harlanworld told me that it was a song written to Mayer's dad. I definitely hold it in higher regard after the third spin.
