Fire Squad's critique of hip-hop's cultural appropriation cycle is the album's most outward-looking moment — does it fit, or does it disrupt the album's personal focus?

2014 Forest Hills Drive by J. Cole · ZERO SKIPS

My personal favorite from the album! Perfectly placed, and I think a lot of the lyrics still capture the inner thoughts and feelings of Cole. He’s one of the greatest, despite what the award shows say, despite cultural appropriation getting ppl ahead in the industry, despite what anybody else thinks except him. Love it, 10/10 no notes!
