Daft Punk buried their robot personas behind animation and vocoders — how does that distance from human identity shape the way you connect with the music?

This may have been a more timely discussion, particularly in the US, when this album first came out. There was a lot of hesitancy to accept electronic music at that time. Just the idea of it led many to question the validity of the music - assuming the creators weren’t musicians and the music itself was somehow inferior to organic sounds. Thankfully things changed, seemingly in part because of this album.
