Veeeeeebbbbeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzz! I've heard Sampha on a SBTRKT album, but unfamiliar otherwise. Let's go!

Two tracks in and this has a very James Blake'y production quality to it.

Through Under. He’s really great at ending songs in interesting ways. Feels very cinematic.

Curious if you purposefully picked the original album rather than the bonus edition version, @harlanworld

@Jangles intentional yeah. I just like the tightness of the original flow and narrative that he built before he added some additional songs he'd made. The bonus tracks are cool too, but not sure they are totally additive, and a ten song album edited and executed really well is chef's kiss.

I can see why you picked this on a cold, rainy night in Manhattan. The whole album feels emotionally charged. I loved the palette of sounds that opened up with the electronic music backing. The way his voice found it's place and interacted with the compositions was absolutely beautiful. Might have to pick this one up for the collection.

I'm with you. I always lean towards the original product.

I like this one a lot. I heard his follow-up last year sometime and it really clicked for me. Something that exists alongside a lot of UK neo-soul/jazz material but also works alongside some more drony and atmospheric work. Was very glad to have a reason to go through this album.
